People use our calculators to order concrete, size tanks, do homework and understand medical reports. Wrong numbers have real costs, so this page spells out exactly how content on CalculateVolume.org gets verified, maintained and corrected.
Formula verification
Every formula on this site is checked against at least one authoritative reference before publication:
- Geometric formulas — standard mathematical references (e.g., CRC Standard Mathematical Tables, NIST resources).
- Engineering formulas (tank fill levels, pipe capacity, dimensional weight) — published engineering handbooks and industry standards, cited on the relevant page.
- Clinical formulas (prostate ellipsoid formula, Nadler blood volume equation, ARDSNet tidal volume tables) — the original peer-reviewed publication or clinical guideline, always cited in a references section on the page.
Calculator testing
Before any calculator ships, it is tested against known worked examples — inputs whose correct outputs can be verified by hand. A cylinder with radius 3 and height 5 must return 141.372 cubic units; a 10 ft × 10 ft slab at 4 inches must return 1.23 cubic yards. We also test edge cases: zero and negative inputs must produce a clear error rather than a wrong answer, mixed units must convert correctly, and very large or small numbers must not silently lose precision.
Medical content standards
Calculators in our medical section are educational tools only. They implement published clinical formulas, but they cannot replace a clinician who can see the whole picture. Every medical page therefore:
- names the formula it implements and cites the source publication or guideline;
- carries a visible disclaimer that results are not a diagnosis and must not be used to make treatment decisions;
- shows its last-reviewed date and is re-checked when the underlying guideline changes.
Sourcing and originality
All editorial content is written for this site. We research what searchers actually need — including reviewing what other resources cover — but every explanation, table and worked example is produced and verified independently. We do not republish or spin other sites' content.
Advertising
The site is supported by advertising. Ads are visually separated from calculators and content, never appear above a calculator, and never influence any result or recommendation. Where a guide contains an affiliate link, it is contextually relevant and disclosed on the page.
Updates and corrections
Every page displays its last-updated date. When a reader reports a possible error via the contact page, we re-verify the math against the original references, correct the page if needed, and update the date. Accuracy reports are handled ahead of all other feedback.
