CalculateVolume.org does one thing: volume. Every shape, every tank, every material, every unit — calculated correctly, with the formula shown, for free.
Why a site about only volume?
Most calculator sites cover thousands of topics an inch deep. When we needed to answer real volume questions — how many gallons a half-filled horizontal tank holds, how many bags of concrete a sonotube takes, what board volume suits a 180-lb intermediate surfer — the top results were either one cramped mega-page or a generic tool with no context for the actual job.
So we built the opposite: a site 100% dedicated to volume calculation, where each question gets its own purpose-built calculator with the right units, reference tables and guidance for that specific task. A student calculating a cone for homework and a contractor ordering ready-mix have different needs; they get different pages.
How we keep the math honest
- Every calculator shows its work. The formula appears on the page with your numbers substituted into it. Nothing is a black box — you can check us with a pencil.
- Every formula is verified against standard geometric, engineering or clinical references before it ships, and every calculator is tested against known worked examples (a cylinder with r = 3 and h = 5 must return 141.37 cubic units, every time).
- Medical calculators cite their sources. Pages like the prostate and tidal volume calculators use published clinical formulas, name them, link the literature, and carry clear disclaimers — they are educational tools, not diagnostic devices.
- Dates and corrections are public. Every page shows when it was last updated, and our editorial & accuracy policy explains how errors get fixed when readers report them.
How the site is built
The whole site is hand-written HTML, CSS and JavaScript — no frameworks, no trackers beyond basic analytics, no sign-ups, no paywalls. Calculations run entirely in your browser; the numbers you enter never leave your device. That is also why pages load fast on a phone with a weak signal, which matters when you're standing in a supply yard trying to figure out how many yards of gravel to order.
